ECOMAR collaborates very closely with the Belize Fisheries Department.   We work closely with them in identifying project goals in the areas of monitoring for coral bleaching, managing lionfish and documenting abundance levels of sea turtles throughout Belize.  The biologists of the marine protected areas they manage play a crucial roll in each of these projects.

In 2011 WWF was a founding supporter of the Belize Turtle Watch Program as we try to identify if climate change is impacting sea turtle populations in Belize.

In 2010 GCFI and it's partners in the Small Grant Fund supported the Belize-Bahamas Fishermen Exchange Program so we could learn first hand how the Bahamas was managing lionfish.

In 2011 ECOMAR received support from the GCFI Small Grants Fund to support the Belize Turtle Watch Program In-Water Sea Turtle Surveys.

In 2011 ECOMAR became a Conservation Partner of TNC and received GIS software and a laptop to use in mapping data collected in our projects.
