Listen to the sounds of manatees!

Eric Ramos, PhD student at CUNY, continues with his observations of manatees residing at St George's Caye.  With his DJI Phantom 4 he is able to more easily see manatees as they move from feeding to resting areas on the leeward side of the island.  You may think, "how can this make a difference in seeing manatees?" but case in point when Eric's drone stopped working two days before he was scheduled to leave, and went kayaking in their known hangouts, he did not see even one manatee!  

​Residents of the island likely wonder how many manatees there are since manatees are observed from time to time, but not in the numbers they are from the sky.  In this Instagram video of a group of manatees, Eric shares some of this rare footage of manatees as they pass the day behind Historic St George's Caye.
