Research StationFounded in 2009, the St. George's Caye Research Station & Field School supports archaeological and marine research for visiting professors and their students. Three Master's thesis and numerous reports have resulted from research undertaken. Researchers can study focus on their area of specialty, or field work and lectures can be tailored to each group's needs.

Historic St. George's Caye is less than 10 miles from Belize City and one mile from the Belize Barrier Reef, making it ideal for accessing tropical marine ecosystems. On the island are mainly private homes used only on weekends and holidays and a small resort. There are no stores and or restaurants on the island, nor is there public electricity or water services. The islands residents include traditional lobster fishermen, caretakers and resort staff. The seclusion afforded at St George's Caye and its close proximity to tropical marine ecosystems and mainland Belize, make it a perfect location to focus on research. RESEARCH

We also offer student groups the opportunity to participate in the Coral Watch program so they can learn about the importance of the coral reefs and impacts of climate change. We also encourage professors to come with their specific needs and we then cater a custom education package to their requirements. FACILITY
The St George's Caye Research Station & Field School offers comfortable accommodations St George's Caye Style that are based on the traditional Creole Colonial architecture. There is no public water or electric company. Water conservation is an integral part of island life and power is generated each night. There is no hot water or air conditioning. Bunk rooms are located in two buildings, the White House and the Garber Cottage, where each room has between 1-3 bunks. Upstairs in the White House there are 3 bedrooms with two baths. Each room has a dresser and fans, and most have nightstands. Downstairs of the white house is the current dining/meeting area, kitchen, and one bedroom with bath. In the Generator House there is a restroom and shower for use while on digs, or for use when returning from sea. The Garber Cottage is a duplex that has private bath with ceiling fans. Three meals are prepared daily and feature local and international fare served buffet style. Many visitors ask for the recipes to take home! FUTURE PLANS
