Volunteer Matt Haskin promotes ECOMAR programs in Placencia

ECOMAR's newest volunteer, Matt Haskin, is helping us promote our programs throughout Belize from April through May.  After spending his first week in Belize City learning about the programs, Matt visited dive and snorkel operators and resorts in Placencia  and shared information on the programs ECOMAR coordinates including:

• Coral Watch
  
• Lionfish
  
• Turtle Watch
  
• Adopt A Reef
  
• Adopt A Beach
  

Matt distributed posters, Coral Watch Volunteer Handbook, underwater slates, ID cards and DVDs the the shops can use to promote the programs to their marine guides and guests. 

Many of the dive and snorkel shops displayed the Turtle Watch posters prominently in their dive centers to help educate their guests.

Splash Dive Center took Matt diving at Glover's Reef Atoll where he was able to share the program details with their guests.

On Matt's three dives with Splash at Glover's Atoll he saw two hawskbill sea turtles and conducted surveys for coral bleaching.  The results will be presented soon!
